Get Your Omegas at Source — Where Fish Get Theirs

QUICK SUMMARY

The omega 3 oils in fish oil come from micro-algae. They go through 19 processing steps and are heated 6 times to create super-processed fish oils. Eating pure fresh living Spirulina is a delicious new way to get organic vegan omega oils direct from the source.

Omega-3 fatty acids are required for growth and development, brain and visual support, heart care, lowering blood triglycerides, and more. Research shows that eating too little Omega fatty acids can significantly enhance the risk of disease.

Omega-3 fatty acids can't be manufactured in the body.— they must be eaten every day — for life — to maintain optimal health..

WHERE TO GET YOUR OMEGA-3 OILS

Let's compare two sources of Omega 3 oils — one from Fresh Living Spirulina, and the other from widely sold fish oil supplements.

Keep in mind that omega oils break down and lose potency when heated above 50 degrees C.

In this article we outline the manufacturing process of these two sources so you can make an informed decision about which to use.

OMEGA OILS FROM LIVING SPIRULINA

Fresh Living Spirulina is a new version of an ancient healing product — it is a delicious food rather than a dried supplement.

It's quickly growing in popularity and has recently become available in South Africa for the first time — farmed and sold in Gauteng only for now..

Here's how it's farmed and delivered:

STEP 1. Spirulina micro-algae convert pure minerals into high-nutrition living cells containing high quantities of pure omega oils. (This takes place in sealed bioreactors to eliminate the possibility of contamination.)

STEP 2. The micro-algae are washed in pure water, filtered and packed fresh or blast frozen and delivered locally. (The Spirulina is never heated so you get pure full strength natural organic omega oils already incorporated into living cells for easy absorption.

Fresh Spirulina delivers pure natural omega oils with no contaminants already incorporated into living cells (organic).

HOW FISH OIL SUPPLEMENTS ARE MADE

Fish oils supplements are increasingly popular and can be found online, in most health food stores, and even supermarkets.

While promoted as a healthy natural source of Omega 3 oils, fish oil is an unnatural super-processed food manufactured using large amounts of energy, and producing a high degree of waste.

There is a large variation in quality — medical warnings are starting to appear about side effects.

Fish oil is not regulated or controlled, so there is no way of knowing how many toxins and heavy metals remain in the product you buy.

Here's how fish oil is made:

STEP 1. Spirulina microalgae convert minerals into high-nutrition living cells containing high quantities of pure omega oils. (This takes place in the polluted ocean - Spirulina are the world's best accumulators of heavy metals.)

STEP 2. The microalgae are eaten by plankton. (This takes place in the polluted ocean where more toxins are absorbed and added to those accumulated in step 1.)

STEP 3. The plankton is eaten by small fish like herring. (This takes place in the polluted ocean where more toxins are absorbed and added to those accumulated in step 2.)

STEP 4. The herring are eaten by larger fish like salmon. (This takes place in the polluted ocean where more toxins are absorbed and added to those accumulated in step 3.)

STEP 5. The larger fish are caught and cooked. (This heat destroys most of the omegas.)

STEP 6. The cooked fish are pressed/filtered to extract the liquids & oils.

STEP 7. This liquid is heated to high temperatures and passed through a molecular evaporator to remove the liquid.

STEP 8. This process is repeated at least once (with heating) to further purify the oil.

STEP 9. The triglyceride omega oil is chemically processed to break it down into its three components.

STEP 10. This is again heated to high temperature and passed through a molecular evaporator to concentrate the oil.

STEP 11. This process is repeated at least once (with heating.)

STEP 12. The 3 separated components are adjusted in ratio then chemically processed to recombine the cells into a synthetic triglyceride oil.

STEP 13. This oil is steam heated to high temperature to deodorize it to remove any remaining fishy smells.

STEP 14. This product is now frozen for months or years until it is ready for packaging.

STEP 15. This product is thawed then undergoes a 'selective crystallization process.

STEP 16. Additives are blended into the oil to extend shelf life and prevent separation.

STEP 17. The resulting oil is packed in bottles or tablets. It has been denatured to the extent where it has a shelf life of years.

STEP 18. The packaged products are distributed worldwide extending their carbon footprint.

STEP 19. They sit in warehouses and shops further degrading for months waiting for purchase.

SUMMARY: In spite of research showing a 75% drop in EPA and DHA concentrations when heating the oil to 150 degrees C, this product is heated at least six times to temperatures of up to 220 degrees C. The bioavailability (how much your body can absorb and use) of organic omega oils from fresh living Spirulina is far higher than for fish oil supplements.

ARE SUPER PROCESSED FISH OILS SAFE?

According to WebMD, fish oil is likely safe for most people in doses of 3 grams or less daily. Taking more than 3 grams daily might increase the chance of bleeding. Fish oil side effects include heartburn, loose stools, and nosebleeds.

ORGANIC, RAW & VEGAN OMEGA 3 OILS

Fresh living Spirulina is a natural vegan source of omega oils that taste great and also provide almost every nutrient you body needs to grow, thrive, and maintain a strong immune system and optimal health.

It is endorsed by the United Nations and World Health organisation as a superfood and is safe to eat daily. Until now vegan omega 3 supplements have been extracted from dried Spirulina, but with the new availability of fresh living Spirulina, you can get your omega's direct from nature's source.
